'''Luis Muñoz Marín''' was born in 1898 and is considered the most important [[20th century|twentieth-century]] political figure in [[Puerto Rico]]. He was was the first governor elected by Puerto Ricans. Muñoz Marín founded the [[Partido Popular Democrático de Puerto Rico]] in [[1938]].

At his death in 1980, Puerto Ricans irrespective of political idiologies, mourned at the passing of a real giant in the history of the island. Don [[Luis A. Ferre]], his political oppositor and a gentleman, was present at his burial to show his respect for the beloved national leader.
