Matronymic or middle name
Could somebody confirm whether Fernando is a matronymic? When I write his name in the format "surname, given name" should it be "Fernando Veríssimo, Luís" or "Veríssimo, Luís Fernando"? — Hippietrail (talk) 00:42, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Not a "matronymic". His "given name" is Luís Fernando. He is Veríssimo, Luís Fernando. This is the general rule for Portuguese names: people should be listed by their last name, unless they have a composite surname. Ninguém (talk) 18:28, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Writings?
This article seems to list everthing about Veríssimo, except the subject that made him notable, that is, his writings. Ninguém (talk) 18:28, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Political views
I don't think it is fair to call the former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso a right-wing politician! He was much closer to what Europeans call a social democrat than to a conservative. Tsf (talk) 15:29, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Luís Fernando Veríssimo → Luis Fernando Verissimo – Hi. I would like to propose a changing from Luis Fernando Veríssimo to Luis Fernando Verissimo (his correct name).
Unfortunately I am not a native English speaker and my domain of the language is very poor. So, I would like very much if anyone could help me.

- Support per nomination and Ortizesp. All other Wikipedias (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese...) indicate his name as Luis Fernando Verissimo. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 18:18, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
