Prince Charles has a secret talent.
According to his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who celebrates her 70th birthday today, the royal is a “brilliant mimic,” with a knack for voices. And he regularly breaks this skill out in front of her grandchildren (his step-grandchildren), Gus, Louis, Eliza, Lola and Freddy (the children of her own children, Tom and Laura).
When the five children visit the royal couple at Birkhall, their home in Scotland, Charles will read Harry Potter to them before they go to bed, putting on voices for each of the different characters, she told the Daily Mail.

Momma mia! All hail the new rock royalty. It takes a lot of guts to tackle Queen's 1975 musical masterpiece "Bohemian Rhapsody" but clearly Panic! At the Disco is up to the challenge. Their six-minute rendition is setting social media on fire and will send shivers down your spine. It's epic! The emo rockers' frontman Brendon Urie and drummer Spencer Smith retooled the band and have been on the road with Fall Out Boy and Linkin Park on their Gospel Tour. Queen's own Brian May gave them his stamp of approval, sharing it on his official Facebook page. We're sure Freddy Mercury would approve,...

Hovering around the twenty-one to twenty-four feature film mark with at least a quarter of those films belonging to first time filmmakers, the Quinzaine des Realisateurs (a.k.a Directors’ Fortnight) has in the past couple of years, counted on a healthy supply of French, Spanish and Belgium produced film items, and has been geared towards the offbeat genre items as with last year’s edition curated by Edouard Waintrop and co. To be unveiled on the 22nd, as we attempted with our Critics’ Week predix, Blake Williams, Nicholas Bell and I (Eric Lavallee) are thinking out loud and hedging our bets on what the section might look like or what the programmers might be looking at for 2014. Here is our predictions overview:
Alleluia
Six years after presenting Vinyan at the Venice Film Festival, Fabrice Du Welz finally returns with potentially not one, but a pair of works for the ’14 campaign.

Every year, we here at Sound On Sight celebrate the month of October with 31 Days of Horror; and every year, I update the list of my favourite horror films ever made. Last year, I released a list that included 150 picks. This year, I’ll be upgrading the list, making minor alterations, changing the rankings, adding new entries, and possibly removing a few titles. I’ve also decided to publish each post backwards this time for one reason: the new additions appear lower on my list, whereas my top 50 haven’t changed much, except for maybe in ranking. I am including documentaries, short films and mini series, only as special mentions – along with a few features that can qualify as horror, but barely do.
****
Special Mention:
Häxan
Directed by Benjamin Christensen
Denmark / Sweden, 1922
Häxan (a.k.a The Witches or Witchcraft Through The Ages) is a 1922 silent documentary about the history of witchcraft,...

Limp Bizkit is back, and ready to go.
The band has released a new six-minute track called "Ready To Go," and it is a doozy. Featuring Lil Wayne, the song centers on the lyric, "Is that your b----h? 'Cause she tell me she ready to go."
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst then starts swinging, taking hits at various female celebrities including Lady Gaga ("I'm so poker-faced, ladies going gaga") and Jessica Biel ("B----h, get at me if that ass is like Jessica Biel"). Durst also takes on Britney Spears, who the rocker claimed to have had sex with, rapping, "That's right, it's Freddy D, the public enemy, you know that one that has Britney droppin' to her knees."
Lil Wayne, who is part of the Cash Money records group Limp Bizkit is now signed to, makes his contribution to the song with a rap verse beginning, "What the f--k is up?...

#30: Cloud Atlas
Directed by Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski
Written by Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski
Cloud Atlas is essentially a patchwork of narratives thematically linked with minor coincidences and recurring symbolism. With six stories spanning several centuries, Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. As a parable of how we are all connected, each protagonist in Cloud Atlas wrestles with some form of oppression, based on either gender, age, race, sexual orientation, genetics and so on. In 1850, a young American lawyer sailing on a ship through the South Pacific is slowly being poisoned by a doctor who wants the treasure of gold he is hiding. In the 1930s, an inspiring composer follows his dreams while recounting his journey via love letters to his gay lover. A journalistic potboiler set...

As 2011 swings around to its inevitable conclusion, the Rubbernecker feels the need (okay, you can call it an addiction) to fete this year's TV glories and gories. And there were quite a few of each. As you may know I have a fondness for the ticky-tacky known as Reality Television, I so love the term because it's so not anyone's reality I've ever known. So this recap will examine first the ridiculous... then the sublime.
Best Reality Show Of 2011 (and it is, actually, a Reality Show)
Hands down, this would be the Gop debates we've had occasion to scope in the latter part of the annum. I mean, what can one say? This has been such a delicious treat! And it's only getting more interesting as the wheat separates from the chaff. Only there really is no wheat amongst this motley crew... just chaff. I'll see you in Iowa next...

Imagine watching a film from the ‘Elm St’ series and suddenly finding one of Freddy Krueger’s razor-sharp taloned glove tapping you on the back. Or how would you feel if, viewing the scene in The Shining where Jack Nicholson finally loses it completely, his character from that very film shimmied into view, dragging his large axe across the floor as he entered your line of vision?
That was one of the fun conceits the good folks from Sky and Freud managed to bring to the table for an event we attended last Friday at the Rsa Vaults in central London – a horror-themed night which culminated with a silent ‘screaming’ of the 2002 Us remake of The Ring.
A visual answer to Silent Disco, we were invited to watch the Naomi Watts-starring tale of haunted videos and a well-dwelling child apparition on individual iPads, whilst said kiddie spirit from the film,...

The teaser campaign for eagerly anticipated Aussie horror The Loved Ones pulls a lovely little bait and switch. Details and new trailer after the jump. Under the guise of asking whether Leatherface, Jason, Freddy or Hannibal (Michael Myers, call your agent) is the true King of Horror, the film crowns its own killer villain, Lola, as horror's new Princess. Unfortunately, you're going to have to take their word for it as the film still has no release date stateside. But if you find yourself down under, you can catch it in Aussie cinemas November 4. More at WhoIsTheKingofHorror.com. Hat tip to our friends at Twitch for spotting this first.
