"I loved going to school and learning new things. Things took an ugly turn when my father suddenly passed away. We were left penniless suddenly and my mother, who was a homemaker, had to figure out how to make ends meet. I had to drop out of school. Fortunately for me, one of my teachers helped me apply for a scholarship on the Vi Scholarship portal. After the scholarship was awarded, I went back to my school. The scholarship not only brought me back to school, but also helped me get back to the activities I loved, such as making models on science concepts and showcasing them in science exhibitions.”
"To keep young children engaged in class, I learnt to make visual aids. However, making them used to take a lot of time. With the Vi Scholarship amount, I bought a computer and learnt to make animation videos to teach difficult concepts. The children and I are equally reaping the benefits of the scholarship. I have even helped some children from low-income group to apply for scholarships to ensure they do not drop out of school.”
“As a teacher I have found students understand better in visuals than text, so I purchased laptop, color printer and a projector.I also wanted to purchase some books for our school library, especially NEET, JEE coaching books so that it can help students in their preparation. With these equipments I’m sure I will make my class better and useful to my students.”
“This year we could not go to the school and suddenly we were told to study from home. Our teacher was taking classes on mobile phones, but my parents could not provide me a phone and I had to borrow it sometimes from neighbours which was causing delay and many times I had to miss my class since the phone was not available. On receiving the Vodafone Idea Students’ Scholarship, one of the first things I purchased was a mobile phone-which I am now using to attend all classes and also use the internet as the teacher tells us. My school fee for the last few month was also pending, which I have paid using the scholarship.”
“The only means to reach out to my students during this crisis was through the online mode. It was tough as I was not equipped well for this unforeseen situation, hence used phone to take classes. Now, I am one of the winners of VI Teacher Scholarship. This will help us a lot as I will use this scholarship to buy books, educational equipment like an advanced laptop, smart board, and educational software& fund my MA in Education.”
