Vienna's Timber Marina Tower – a sustainable milestone 🌿 UBM is planning the highest wooden high-rise in the world in Vienna's Waterfront development area. The Timber Marina Tower will be 32 floors high and feature a 44,350 m² hybrid timber construction combining sustainability and innovation. 🌍 Key highlights: 📍 Prime location: Directly on the Donaumarina U2 – 12 minutes to the city centre, 15 minutes to the airport. 🌱 Sustainability: Geothermal energy, groundwater systems and photovoltaic modules. 🏆 Targeted certifications: LEED Gold, ÖGNI, Certified Good Mobility, Wired Score and alignment with the EU taxonomy regulations. 🚴♂️ Project Recap: From Factory to Creative Hub: Center Rog in Ljubljana 🎨 The transformation of the former Rog bicycle factory into a vibrant creative and social centre is a project we are proud of! Featured in our Communication magazine, this project by Elea iC d.o.o. perfectly combines history, innovation and sustainability. What makes Center Rog unique: 🏗️ 9,000 m² reconstructed building with a modern extension 🚗 3,000 m² underground parking garage 🌳 8,000 m² green park that brings life to the neighbourhood The historic structure was preserved and reinforced with reinforced concrete walls, jet-grouted foundations and carbon-fibre reinforcement. The new glass façade not only looks stunning, but also showcases the original architecture. Furthermore, a solar energy power plant on the roof emphasises the sustainability aspect. Today, Center Rog is a creative centre in the heart of Ljubljana, providing a state-of-the-art environment for applied arts and design. 🌍 Geotechnical Excellence at the Yusufeli Dam: A ground-breaking achievement 🌊 iC is proud to have played a key role in the Yusufeli Dam project, the tallest arch dam outside of China at 275 m, which is part of the Coruh River Hydropower Plant in Turkey. This engineering marvel, with a 2.2 billion m³ reservoir capacity and an installed capacity of 558 MW, is now fully operational and has been providing sustainable energy since 2024. Since 2013, iC has been supporting the project with: ✔️ Geotechnical consulting and 3D modelling for slopes, tunnels and caverns ✔️ Advanced slope stabilisation with 6,500 post-tensioned anchors up to 80m in length ✔️ Real-time INSAR monitoring to ensure safety and stability during construction The first impoundment, completed in late 2023, confirmed the precision of our designs, with deformations remaining within predicted ranges. This milestone reflects iC's commitment to providing innovative solutions to complex challenges, thereby contributing to sustainable energy production worldwide. 🏛️ Reopening of the District Court of Lilienfeld – a historic building is revived Yesterday, the District Court of Lilienfeld, which has undergone a major renovation, was officially reopened. iC contributed to this important project with its project management services. Today, the district court not only shines in new splendour, but is also a prime example of sustainable restoration. It now meets the ‘klimaaktiv Gold’ building standard and reduces heating energy demand by three quarters through the use of state-of-the-art technology. In addition, the surrounding areas have been revitalised with unsealed parking spaces, promoting environmental sustainability. This project ensures that the court remains an important institution for the region, providing residents with access to justice, while also hosting additional services such as healthcare facilities and offices for local entrepreneurs. 🌉✨ On site at the Römerradweg: A bridge for the future Students from the Construction and Design department at HTL Linz visited the new wooden bridge over the Traun under the guidance of our colleague Paul Schmidberger. This innovative project, built by DREIHANS GmbH and designed by Schimetta Consult ZT GmbH, is set to become an important part of the regional cycle path network. 🔍 What's so special about it? - The bridge is expected to be completed by the end of 2024 and will then connect Wels and Schleißheim for pedestrians and cyclists. - Features include picturesque viewing platforms, barrier-free access and a unique wooden façade. - Built with sustainable materials, it combines design, accessibility and environmental responsibility. This project shows how sustainability and innovation come together to create future-oriented mobility solutions. 🌍 Circular Cultural Heritage – Sustainable Construction Practices 🌍 Yesterday, our colleague Claudiu Silvestru gave a lecture at an event organised by the Austrian Federal Monuments Office on the topic ‘Construction documentation for high-quality reuse’, highlighting the importance of linking reuse concepts to classical project phases in order to scale the reuse of building parts up to a standard procedure. The event, titled ‘Circular Heritage: Sustainable Renovation with Traditional Construction Methods’, brought together experts to discuss the following topics: - The role of traditional materials in modern circular construction. - How historic buildings exemplify sustainable reuse practices. - The need for more reference projects to move from theory to practice. Key topics covered during the programme included: 💡 The economic impact of investing and real estate development in cultural heritage sites 🔄 Legal aspects of the reuse of building parts 🏛️ Best practices in heritage conservation and material reuse The event concluded with a panel discussion on the challenges of circular renovation, with a focus on emphasising and disseminating the different values of existing constructions and building parts. 🚧 S36 Murtal Expressway – Judenburg to St. Georgen o.J. The environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the ASFINAG project is an important milestone in the planning process for this 12-kilometre section from Judenburg to St. Georgen ob Judenburg. iC provided project management services and coordinated the preparation and submission of an impressive 1,274 documents, including detailed plans and technical reports. The focus of the S36 project is to improve the 12 kilometer long connection between Judenburg and St. Georgen ob Judenburg.
