Today is International Migrants Day 🌍 ICMPD highlights that effective migration governance requires a comprehensive framework for migrants and migration routes, including the development, protection capacities, and socio-economic standards of countries of origin, transit, and first asylum countries. 📌 Amid a year of escalating wars and conflicts, rising climate change, and socio-economic challenges, we reflect on ICMPD's efforts with Member States and partner countries in various migration areas: 🌐 ICMPD’s Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) Providing (potential) migrants with information on access to safe and regular pathways, advice on scholarship and employment opportunities abroad, tailored services to improve preparedness, and, in some cases, reintegration services upon return. The Migration Podcast 🎙️ Human trafficking is a migration issue. While movements across and within borders are increasing, human trafficking has remained largely invisible and complex to address. Children and women are also faced with rising threats of abuse and exploitation especially those on the move. 🎙️ In this episode, ICMPD Senior Researcher Madalina Rogoz and Sergio Rivera Reyes of Fundación Renacer from Colombia discuss: 📌 The HEROES Project and its Manual of new tools and strategies to detect and protect victims of human trafficking, child sexual abuse, and child sexual exploitation, and support them in case management and referral services. 📌 The nuances and forms of trafficking and abuse across the countries covered: Bangladesh, Colombia, Spain, and the United Kingdom (UK). 📌 How the HEROES Manual is helping first-line responders such as social workers, teachers, and law enforcement officers in their work to detect, protect, and support victims to referral services. 🎧 Tune in at: https://lnkd.in/dPvFHZ26 #MigrationPodcast #Migration #THB #EndHumanTrafficking #HumanTrafficking #Bangladesh #Colombia #Spain #UK ICMPD Policy & Research

#InFocus 🌍 Enhancing the entrepreneurship capacities of migrants creates jobs, enriches the host communities and strengthens the local economy. The ENHANCER (Entrepreneurship Capacities for Sustainable Socio-Economic Integration) project aims to improve employment and livelihood opportunities for local host communities that have a high concentration of migrants, particularly Syrians under Temporary Protection. 📌 Over 3,800 Turkish and Syrian entrepreneurs already received training across the country; including in Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Gaziantep, Hatay, İzmir, Kayseri, Konya, Mersin, Şanlıurfa and İstanbul. 📌 ENHANCER has two types of mentorships: Team mentoring in Hackathon-type events and structured mentoring in line with the Mentorship Guideline. 📌 The project has been hosting events to link entrepreneurs with major buyers, investors, and funding channels. 📌 The ENHANCER Business Platform is a one-stop-shop for the diverse needs of entrepreneurs which brings together SMEs, cooperatives, corporations, mentors, investors, international organisations, NGOs, and universities. 🤝 ICMPD is implementing the EU-funded project in cooperation with the Directorate General of Regional Development Agencies under the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technologies. Looking ahead to #MigrantsDay 🔗 ENHANCER has created a web of opportunities and provided linkages between the Syrian refugees under Temporary Protection, and businesses and governance institutions in their host communities.
