  • Farmers across Australia are set to receive up to $9.7 billion for hosting renewable energy projects by 2050 including in communities like the Southern Downs Regional Council in Queensland. Mayor, Councillor Melissa Hamilton, said: “We’re standing at the start of the road when it comes to the money that will flow from renewable projects in our region. But it is a significant opportunity, and one that no responsible leader would ignore. Faced with a choice of putting our energy dollars into the hands of our local farmers or offshore multinationals we’ll back projects every day that do the former.” Find out more by reading the report we prepared with Farmers for Climate Action titled ‘Billions in the bush: Renewable energy for regional prosperity’ https://lnkd.in/gR3FqHug

  • Megan Aspinall’s leadership and dedication to the energy transition exemplifies the critical role women play in shaping the future of renewable energy. As Director of Infrastructure Advisory (Energy) at KPMG Australia, Megan, who was awarded the prestigious Chloe Munro Scholarship in October, shares, “The energy transition is a phenomenally complex and critically important task that will likely define our generation. The challenge ahead of us is multi-dimensional and will require diverse skills and perspectives to navigate the path forward.”     We’re proud to support Megan’s journey as she embarks on the Executive Ready course in 2025, offered by Women & Leadership Australia (WLA).    These scholarships offer incredible opportunities for professional development specifically tailored to women in the renewable energy sector and are part of the Clean Energy Council's commitment to empowering women at all levels within the industry.   Visit our Women in Renewables page for updates on this and other initiatives: https://lnkd.in/e3FM-VmD   #womeninrenewables #cleanenergy #renewableenergy

  • An energy system built around nuclear energy would strangle our rooftop solar industry and hurt the solar savings of more than 4 million Australian homes and businesses. Australia is #1 in the world for rooftop solar; 1 in 3 homes and businesses have a solar system, helping them to save an average of $1500 a year off their electricity bills and power a large amount of the country’s energy needs - at one point this Spring, rooftop PV accounted for a record 52 per cent of electricity generation on Australia’s main grid. There is not enough room in the grid to introduce a huge amount of inflexible, expensive, baseload power from nuclear power plants. Keeping nuclear power plants “always on” would mean rooftop solar needs to be switched off, especially in the middle of the day. Find out more https://lnkd.in/gwBMVpdc

  • Nuclear in Australia would be a disaster for energy bills. Research shows that renewable energy backed by storage is the lowest-cost way to replace ageing, increasingly unreliable fossil fuel generation. Not only is nuclear the most expensive form of energy generation, the Coalition’s plan to cap renewable energy at 54 per cent by 2050 will ensure fossil fuels keep burning for longer, driving up power prices and resulting in more blackouts while we await nuclear’s arrival. It’s a lose-lose scenario. #cleanenergy #renewableenergy

  • Lucinda Walker’s dedication to renewable energy and her passion for advancing the sector highlight the transformative impact women are having in this field.  As a Senior Renewable Engineer at DNV Australia, Lucinda, who received the prestigious Chloe Munro Scholarship in October shares, “I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partake in this transformational leadership course, and to challenge myself to grow in ways I genuinely aspire to, but so often doubt I can achieve.” We’re proud to support Lucinda’s journey as she embarks on the Leading Edge course in 2025, offered by Women & Leadership Australia (WLA).

  • Nuclear energy would cause a meltdown in Australia: 💸 a disaster for Australian electricity prices – nuclear is 2 to 6 times more expensive than renewables backed by storage, pumped hydro and gas. 👨👩👧👦 impact savings for more than 4 million households and businesses with rooftop solar by forcing the cheapest form of generation on people’s homes to turn off so that the most expensive could continue to operate around the clock.     👷♀️ chaos for renewable energy projects and a dramatic slowdown in investment which would be of great concern to those who have already invested $40 billion into large-sale renewable energy in Australia since 2020. • Australia is abundant with natural resources, which renewable energy projects are already converting into more than 40 per cent of the electricity in our grid. Renewable energy backed up by energy storage, as well as pumped hydro and gas, is the lowest-cost future for Australian energy, and the most reliable way to replace ageing coal-fired generation. Nuclear might play a role in other countries, but it can’t compete against Australia’s world-leading wind and sun. The fact that we don’t have an existing nuclear power industry means it would take decades for the first plant to be built and time is not on our side. #cleanenergy #renewableenergy

  • Large-scale renewable energy projects will deliver $1 billion to farmers and $200 million to regional communities by 2030, under the current pathway for renewable energy development. Renewables are not only keeping the lights on as coal plants reach the end of their technical life, they’re breathing life into regional and rural communities, creating jobs and alternative income streams. Councillor Andrew Smith, Mayor of Western Downs Regional Council, says “the Western Downs is proud to call itself the 'Energy Capital of Queensland', but we are also a region that was built on the back of a robust agriculture industry that continues to be a pillar of our strong, diverse economy.” “As a region at the forefront of a changing world, Western Downs Regional Council strongly believes in the importance of collaboration and coexistence.” “Working together benefits and strengthens us all, and the Clean Energy Council's 'Billions in the Bush' report highlights the power of partnership in building a strong, bright future for rural Australia, our farmers, and our planet." • From 1 October, most rooftop solar panels have been required to meet 2021 standards to feature on the Clean Energy Council’s approved products list and remain eligible for government rebates. Some solar panels were granted extensions to this deadline. From 1 April 2025, these extensions will have expired and all new solar installations will need to use modules that meet 2021 standards (IEC 61215:2021). We encourage all installers and retailers to use up existing stock that is set to expire, and to buy stock that is approved to 2021 standards. Check the product list here https://lnkd.in/gCYW3Za

  • The renewable energy sector is powered by exceptional women who are at the forefront of shaping a sustainable clean energy future. Through the Chloe Munro Scholarship, we proudly support these women by offering opportunities to develop their leadership skills, amplify their contributions, and drive meaningful change in the sector. This week, we are proud to feature Lucy Sinclair, Senior Community Engagement Manager (ANZ) from Aquila Clean Energy APAC. Lucy’s dedication to renewable energy and her vision for a cleaner future exemplify the impact of women in this industry. “I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity, not only for my personal leadership journey but for the doors it opens for emerging female leaders in the clean energy sector. It’s crucial that we continue pushing for more women in senior leadership roles, as we have so much to offer. I’m looking forward to collaborating with the other scholarship recipients, expanding my network and learning new skills, while exploring the type of leader I want to be in the next stage of my career. Ultimately, I hope to inspire future women to push for equal representation and diversity in their roles.” We’re proud to support Lucy’s journey as she embarks on the Leading Edge course in 2025, offered by Women & Leadership Australia (WLA).
