Paleolithic Era

The Middle Paleolithic period (ca 200,000 to 45,000 years ago or so) is the period during which Archaic humans appeared and flourished.

The Paleolithic Age, also known as the Stone Age, is characterized as the period of human history that began roughly 2.6 million years ago and ended around 10,000 BCE.

The term usually implies prehistoric origin, but cave paintings can also be of recent production: In the Gabarnmung cave of northern Australia, the oldest paintings certainly predate 28,000 years ago, while the most recent ones were made less than a century ago.
