This year, the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities takes place at a key moment for the EU. Our COFACE Disability Platform calls for a stronger EU framework to protect the rights of persons with disabilities and their families that should build upon supporting tools, flagships and effective monitoring. 🚨 15 EU civil society organisations call for an ambitious and inclusive EU Anti-Poverty Strategy Together with 15 organisations, we have addressed a joint letter to the new Executive Vice-President for People, Skills, and Preparedness, Roxana Minzatu. We welcome the new EVP and request a meeting to discuss the upcoming first-ever EU Anti-Poverty Strategy, announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Several Working Group meetings will take place over the next few days during our 3rd General Meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania! The first WG meeting was started by WG 6! -Attila Bőhm, Working Group 6 Leader, presented "Recap of WG6 activities and EU policy updates." -Andreas De Boer, Co-Leader of Working Group 6, gave a presentation about the policy brief.

☀️ Join us for World Children’s Day! 🗓️ On November 20th, we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC). The Child Rights Action Group (CRAG), of which Missing Children Europe is a part of, will organise an event in collaboration with the child rights champions in the European Parliament. The event will be hosted by MEP Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová. In this event: 💬 We will discuss how to move forward with the children’s rights agenda in the EU 🗣️ Children will present to EU policy-makers their priorities for the next political cycle 🤝Complementary to this event, UNICEF EU will organise an activity to launch its flagship report “State of the World’s Children 2024”, followed by a roundtable discussion of the reported trends.
