Ch. 16- Jane finds out the next morning that everyone believes the fire started because Mr. Rochester left a candle burning by his bed. Jane is starting to have feelings for Mr. Rochester, and she is disappointed when he leaves Thornfield for awhile to stay with some friends. Mrs. Fairfax tells Jane about the beautiful Blanche Ingram who will be there, and later Jane draws a picture of what she thinks Blanche looks like to compare to a picture of her.
