In this role as a Volunteer working with Black Youths, initially there was a significant high school drop out of some 80 percent.
My focus was to show these youth people love, caring, commitment, compassion and nurturing. With Systemic Racism and Anti-Black Racism directed at these kids, they never had a chance to demonstrate what they possessed or their ability to do better.

My focus was to show these youth people love, caring, commitment, compassion and nurturing. With Systemic Racism and Anti-Black Racism directed at these kids, they never had a chance to demonstrate what they possessed or their ability to do better.
So, I thought if we brought in Black professionals that they could see - they would be able to make the vital connection.
If they could see it, they could be it. We invited a Psychologist, a Lawyer, a Principle, Doctor, and Business Owner's to demonstrate that they could be just like these role models who volunteered their valuable time to assist us in moving these beautiful Black Learner's forward.
In two short years we significantly curved the drop out rate from a high of 80 percent down to less than 10 percent.
Then, I was solicited to write a proposal for Black Community Development Coordinators and Assistants across Nova Scotia.
I offered a proposal to Mr. Keith Cameron, the Director of the Bedford, Nova Scotia Employment Centre for a proposed starting salary of $46,000.00/annum for the Development Coordinator's position and $26,500.00/annum for the Assistant. Mind you, this was in 1994. This proposal was adopted and immediately implemented across Nova Scotia.

Nela Odarijew vs Canadian Armed Forces
June 1995 – January 2000
I assisted Nela for a period of five years in an effort to redress the discrimination and sexism she was subjected to by virtue that she is female. Staffing numerous Redresses, Human Rights Complaints etc., that we believe resulted in Nela's victory over this meager-minded organization we call the Canadian Government. It should be duly noted that Nela flew the Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney in the early 1980's. She was the first female to complete the Flight Engineer Program (Flt Eng 091) course 1991 held at 404 Maritime Patrol and Training Squadron located at 14 Wing Greenwood, Nova Scotia - formerly referred to as Canadian Forces Base Greenwood (CFB) Nova Scotia. Nela was subjected to attempted rapes, abuse of authority, discrimination and sexism by many of her colleagues and superiors while she attempted to perform her military duties. Also, Nela speaks Ukrainian as well as English.
A success in so far as the Canadian Human Rights Commission decided that she had been discriminated against while attempting to perform her duties at 405 Squadron, 14 Wing, Greenwood, Nova Scotia - formerly referred to as CFB Greenwood. Moreover, as a direct consequence of the mean-spirited treatment she was subjected to Nela developed PTSD. And equally as important however, it should be duly noted that several military individuals in a military Board of Inquiry (BOI) confirmed the bullying, sexism, and discrimination Nela suffered at both 405 Squadron and 404 Maritime Patrol and Training Squadron (MP&T) while on course there in 1992.
Additionally, however, I have completed several more projects but they are considered confidential, and not for public viewing or publishing.

Abdul was a Leading Seaman (LS) in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) serving at CFB Halifax during the period identified above. Abdul presented with allegations of Racism and Discrimination by virtue of his race and color Black. Abdul had completed a university undergraduate degree and was applying for a commission in the CF. He was informed that he was not eligible because the CF did not recognize his academic studies. Consequently, Abdul was referred to me and I prepared several Redresses of Grievances in his stead.
Abdul was subsequently successful in getting the CF to accept his degree; however, he became quite disillusioned by the Racism and Discrimination he encountered and subsequently took his release from the CF and moved to Toronto. -

Presse & Mason have taken Ann Marie's case on a contingency basis and the case has been filed in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and is ongoing.
I also provided administrative support and assistance in several other aspects of her ongoing struggle.
At the end of the day, Ann Marie was successful and received damages for her Wrongful Dismissal. -

I had the pleasure of meeting with Stoney and Rose Fraser (Antoine's) parents subsequent to Antoine sentencing for the "alleged" sexual assault against a former student. In fact, my brother Reg referred them to me as Reg, Stoney and Rose all played together in one of Canada's premier gospel groups, The Gospel Heirs of Nova Scotia formed in 1976.

In fact, my brother Reg referred them to me as Reg, Stoney and Rose all played together in one of Canada's premier gospel groups, The Gospel Heirs of Nova Scotia formed in 1976.
I should like to point out that I initially spoke with Rose via telecon and subsequently with both her and Stoney at our home. During our discussions the Fraser's revealed several startling pieces of information when compiled sounded the alarm, "at least to me", that their son Antoine had not been properly "represented" by defense counsel, Mr. Lance Scaravelli of Scaravellie and Associates during, prior and subsequent to the proceeding.
Accordingly, I suggested to the Fraser's that in my humble opinion they should tenaciously pursue a competent lawyer or law firm to proceed with the following undertakings: 1. to file a failure to properly represent their son in this criminal case; 2. file a wrongful dismissal charge against the Nova Scotia School Board for dismissing Antoine prior to any legal proceeding taking place; 3. file an action against Mr. Scaravelli for fraud in light of the fact that he was paid $25,000.00 and absolutely no defense was provided; 4. file an action with the Nova Scotia Barristers Association demanding punitive action be taken against Mr. Scaravelli as a direct consequence of the foregoing; and 5. file an action for Notice of Motion and Affidavit to have Antoine case overturned and request a mistrial where he could pick a "jury" of his peers"; have key individuals subpenaed that the incompetent counsel utterly failed to do - with the hope and view that this ridiculous miscarriage of justice would be withdrawn.
Scaravelli resigned 1 Oct, 2013 after a scathing review by the Nova Scotia Court of Appeals.
Antoine freed.

Brian solicited my assistance in drafting his subsequent Notice of Motion, Affidavit and Application Record (now referred to as the "Book of Records).
Brain and I have amassed several victories against the VRAB at the Federal Court Trial Division Level during our several battles to date. Most regrettably, however, in each instance when victories were won, the Judge simply referred the case back to a differently constituted board of bandits in the same organization VRAB, which only resulted in Brian being denied any benefits. And most recently, Stephen Garvey CEO at Foundation For Democratic Advancement (FDA) advancement@gmail.com at www.democracychange.org released a 62 page report on injured and/or disabled vets on Tuesday, 12 Nov, 2013 detailing their ordeal in attempting to acquire benefits. Brian was chosen as their case study for this report. The results are indeed startling!!!
Unfortunately, Brian has lost over $40,000 in legal bills; his family and his home. Meanwhile, VRAB continues to be "Master over it's own domain" and it's domain is corrupt... Notwithstanding, the battle for "Justice" continues...Brian and I became fast friends as he and I both had careers in the military and were both subject to the abuses of the system. My Nephew Curtis was experiencing practices by his employer (Halifax Housing Authority) that were discriminatory and harassing by virtue of his race (Black). Curtis solicited my assistance to prepare a document that would underscore his position and hopefully a successful resolution to his concerns.
Accordingly, I prepared a letter which indicated in no uncertain terms that the above-noted practices were in fact in violation of sections 5 and 11 of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act inter alia.
Consequently, around a week later Curtis received notice that all of his concerns would be addressed forthwith and the matter was resolved to his satisfaction. -

Ivan had completed a course in Community Development (at Henson College -Dalhousie University) and the Staff at Henson College decided that they were not going to provide Ivan with a diploma. In fact, they intended to have him dismissed from his position as the Community Development Coordinator for New Glasgow Community Development Coordinator. Several underhanded maneuvers had been ongoing behind the scenes between New Glasgow community members and the Staff at Henson College to facilitate Ivan's dismissal as Development Coordinator.
Accordingly, I was solicited by Ivan to act as his advocate with the view toward having his diploma issued and the bogus allegations against him dropped. We were fortunate in that subsequent to the meeting that we attended at Henson College by Staff and Board members, I was successful in convincing them that significant errors had been made; ethical practices had been breached; and, underhanded measures had been used to hijack Ivan's efforts to be successful in his academic endeavors. Consequently, they unanimously agreed and granted Ivan his diploma and a written apology for their less-than-ethical practices. -
Jordan Brady v Canadian Armed Forces 2021
-
Jordan came to me with complaints of Systemic Racism he was targeted for on board a HMCS Ship in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I accompanied him and a colleague to the Admiral of the Atlantic Fleet in Halifax.
The Petty Officer First Class involved in these heinous acts I understand was charged with unlawfully discriminating against these two junior members.
I filed for injury benefits to Veterans Affairs Canada and he was compensated for his injury. -

I filed for benefits for these young men with Veteran's Affairs Canada and they emerged victorious and were awarded benefits. -

I filed a complaint to the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission (NSHRC) in 2018.
It was recommended by the Commission for a Board of Inquiry (BOI); however, the Respondent were interested in Mediation, to which we agreed.
The Respondent brought in a Senior Partner from Hicks Mortley of Toronto.
I filed several Legal Briefs and we emerged victorious subsequent to Mediation Hearing with a substantive injury benefit.

I represented my nephew in a case where WCB withheld his disability benefits for several years. A common practice of WCB.
After writing several Legal Briefs that they ignored, I engaged Yvonne Colbert, CBC Watchdog that assists consumers - Yvonne aired our story on CBC Radio and TV, and in less than 24 hours WCB contacted my nephew with an apology and the $64,000.00 they owed him. -

Maurice was targeted for Systemic Racism in both these organizations.
Our cases were referred to the Canadian Human Rights Commission Tribunal and we agreed upon Hearings held in Ottawa to attempt to resolve Maurice’s concerns. We emerged victorious and achieved a significant Settlement.
We are currently proceeding to Federal Court by virtue that the CHRC, the RCMP nor National Police Federation (NPF) RCMP Union failed to enforce the Settlement Agreement that entitles Maurice to his Canada Life Benefits.
Concurrently, we received and are awaiting the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission decision in two additional instances where Maurice was Racially Profiled and the Police Officers lied on FORM 11. A Police legal document that is sworn to by Police and filed in the Versadex System.
Maurice fortunately video taped the entire incident and we have the Police, the Haliax Police Complaint's Commission and the Halifax Review and Appeal Board all caught in lies. A breach of the Public Trust and Perjury which falls under the Criminal Code Section131 (1).

I assisted Tony over the course of five years (1999 - 2004) in a case of Racial Discrimination he endured since 1991 with the Nova Scotia Government when he was employed by CHOICES. Consequently, our struggle took five years as both NSGEU and Pink, Breen & Larkin (allegedly Tony's legal counsel and a Halifax-based Law Firm) ran us around hoping that we would simply quit. My last letter to Pink, Breen & Larkin culminated in them refusing to represent Tony. I instructed Tony to solicit a law firm that would take his case (which I thought was an extremely strong one of Racism, Discrimination and failure to properly represent him) and Tony is currently with Presse and Mason (a Law Firm operating out of Bedford, Nova Scotia). It should be duly noted that Presee and Mason have been handling this matter since 2005 with Discovery taking place in 2009 and the matter ongoing. They have accepted his case on a contingency basis.
Addendum, I remain confident that Tony [will] emerge victorious in this struggle as he has in the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children (Out of Court Settlement). And, let me indicate that I hold this opinion simply by virtue of the facts; however, we shall indeed see.
In late 2015, Tony achieved an out of court settlement for all of the Systemic Racism and Cronyism his was subjected to. -

Wallace was referred to me by Perry Borden, Crown Prosecutor for the former city of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Wallace solicited me in May of 2011 with corroborated documentation that demonstrated that he and his entire family were the targets of extensive Racism and Discrimination while he attempted to carry on his duties at the following three CF bases in Canada: CFB Borden, Ontario; CFB Esquimalt, British Columbia; and, CFB Trenton, Ontario. The documentation clearly indicates that Wallace was subjected to both Racism and Discrimination for the entire period he was employed by the CF 2000 - 2003.
Accordingly, he has been diagnosed with PTSD as well as Major Depressive Mood Disorder - which are a direct result of his difficulties within the CF world. Moreover, the Chronicle Herald Halifax, 13 September, 2012, "Bullied off the Job" underscores some of the difficulties Wallace and I have encountered as a result of our endeavors to bring this whole matter before the public. We have over the course of the past two years solicited various politicians in an effort to garner support and advance Wallace's concerns; however, to date we have met with little to no success.
However in June of 2016 we have been successful in retaining Stewart/McKelvey Law Firm of Halifax, Nova Scotia and are happy to report we achieved a Settlement Agreement in Principle (AIP) 19 August, 2019 that involves Systemic and Institutional Changes within the framework of CAF.
We are heading into 2024, and after some 8 years in this matter, we hope we may see the light at the end of the tunnel for all Racially Visible, Black and Indigenous people that have needlessly suffered under an institution that demonstrated Systemic Racism, Anti-Black Racism, Institutional Discrimination and cronyism towards the targeted groups named herein. -
