This woodturned sculpture is part of my "Zen Series". It is simply titled "Zen" American Holly hollow form resting on a square Black Walnut raised center base supported by a Black Walnut pedestal. The initial inspiration for the elemental top collection by Alvaro Uribe for Wooda was wooda’s iconic logo of a tree. We felt it captured the company’s synergy for working with wood and its history as a furniture maker. To expand the story, we looked for elements in nature that occurred around trees that could be poetically translated into tops, hence the Agua and cairn versions.
