The indigenous that lived on the Caribbean called Guanin to an alloy of metals composed of gold silver and copper. This inspired the creation of this piece. First version is molded as what our ancestor depicted as the symbol of Guanin, (Also part of the Taino Flag) as previously mentioned was a combination of hammered metals mixed together. This piece which I can call an amulet is a perfect gift for yourself or someone who practices the Taino culture and traditions. Obviously my version is made with clay and metallic acrylic paint on an 18" waxed necklace cord. Second version is "Agua Dulce" Guanin made out of Resin, sanded and polished for a clear see-through look. Also is on an 18" waxed necklace cord. Most of the time the Guanin was used as necklaces for the Cacique. The flag itself represented the three confederated Taino tribal bands in Puerto Rico (Jatibonicu Taino Tribe of Borikén, Florida (The Tekesta Taino Tribal Band of Bimini Florida), and New Jersey (Jatibonicu Taino Tribal Band of New Jersey).
