This lovely Gunne Sax sundress was probably manufactured during the late 70s due to the gold label being of smaller proportions with the size tag sewn onto it's bottom. Not only is this a difficult to find size 11 but it has never been worn and still has the 'hang tag' attached. It has a 'Victorian' lilt to it in the triple ruffled collar but is not paired with the high neck and modest long sleeves of that design era. The main fabric is a light, linear textured voile in the lightest of sky blue. White ribbon defines the empire style waist while the neckline bursts with an accordion tulle and floral, figural, cotton lace. The skirting is full and comes down to a 10" ruffle that is accented at the bottom hem with nylon, floral lace. There are two sashes at either side of the waist for adjustment also made of the blue voile and the entire dress is lined in white acetate to counter the sheerness of the primary fabric. This is an 'over the head' style with both the front and back bodice gaining enormous fullness from gathers at the waist rather than the traditional darts. This is quite a find for myself and I'm happy to present it to you. I've had the privilege to be the first one to wear a Gunne and it's very special. It all adds up to that little bit of magic.
