70s J C Penney Fashion Gown, Empire Waist Long Dress, polyester long dress, maxi dress, granny gown, peasant dress, long pleated skirt Pretty in pastel peach, this empire waisted print top/ solid bottom gown is made by J C Penney Fashion. Size 8, the washing instructions say Dry Clean Only, but I guess perhaps this was early in the days of polyester - or so this fabric feels to me like poly. I could be wrong. The attached flowing lightly pleated skirt has a few stains (no effort has been made to launder), some of which appear to be very temporary. The one pictured above is the worst, though, and may not come out. Looks to be some kind of small rust stain (rust in color, anyway). The printed bodice has puffy sleeves with elastic galthering above the elbow. The dress has belt loops attached, so I can assume there is a missing belt. Back closure is a long nylon zipper with a hook and eye at top. The style of this dress is very forgiving in nature. Measurements: Empire waistline - 25" Skirt from empire waist to bottom of hemline - 42" Armpit to armpit - 33" Call it a "maxi" a "granny" or a "full length" dress - either way, it was the fashion of the day in the 70s and well worth a wear nearly 50 years later!
