18ct Sterling and Diamond Navette Ring

A Belle Epoque treasure! Crafted circa 1880 in vibrant 18 carat gold, this sterling and diamond ring is a true treat. First and foremost, the ring’s construction is lovely, with neoclassical shoulders and a Navette design. Navette, or “little ship” rings, were highly en vogue during the 19th century, often serving as the perfect statement pieces for elegant nights out or celebrations. And indeed, this ring is a statement piece – just marvel at those stunning diamonds! They glitter atop the central gallery, creating a mini chandelier for your hand. The central diamond stone is estimated at .56cts because of its massive height. But what is notable about this ring is the quality of the diamonds: 1.30cts of massive, cushiony old-mine cut diamonds are set amid rows of foil back, closed setting rose cut diamonds. This is an extremely rare construction! We here at the Curio have personally never seen a ring mix open and closed-back settings with foil before. And those rose cut diamonds are super clean, with a beautiful foiling. The resulting silhouette is glamorous and sophisticated.
