Info
CERN is a truly unique organisation. A genuine collaboration between countries, universities, and scientists, driven not by profit margins, but by a commitment to create and share knowledge. People here are part of immense scientific discoveries, answering some of life’s most complex questions and pushing the boundaries of understanding. Experts from every field come here to share in this ambition and the nature of this collaborative, international community creates a genuine atmosphere of trust. People are free to work creatively and to trust in, and rely on, their colleagues across the organisation. History’s being made here – and the excitement is tangible, inspiring, and overwhelming at times. It is the only place in the world where you can do this work in this way. --- If you’ve worked at CERN in the past, why not join the official CERN LinkedIn Alumni group, linked from this page.

The test stand for the #HiLumiLHC welcomes its first magnets 🧲 The novel superconducting magnets are one of the jewels of the high-luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). They will direct and focus the beams just before the collision point, increasing the number of collisions and thus the integrated luminosity. These first magnets will be validated together on a unique test stand #AtCERN, known as the IT (Inner Triplet) String. This test facility, located in a building on the surface, is an exact replica of the machine segments that will be installed on both sides of the ATLAS experiment and CMS experiment. A tale of two Higgs: CMS searches for the production of #HiggsBoson pairs Using data from Run 2 of the #LHC, the CMS Collaboration has combined a comprehensive set of searches for di-Higgs production, a phenomenon that could provide physicists with clues to the stability of the Universe. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/d4-HQAm4
Two Higgs bosons are better than one! In a measurement constituting a legacy of Run 2 at the LHC, the CMS experiment combines numerous searches for production of not one but two Higgs bosons. 🔎We're closer to observation of this elusive process than ever. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gpmTrkkg

A new superconducting system for #HiLumiLHC is coming together 🧩 Here, we can see the above-ground facility and test stand, assembled earlier this year, where many of the novel components will be validated together. The HiLumi Project of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) aims to increase the number of particle collisions and, consequently, boost the amount of physics data that can be collected by the #LHC experiments by another order of magnitude. The ALICE Collaboration finds first ever evidence of the antimatter partner of hyperhelium-4 The finding also represents the first evidence of the heaviest antimatter hypernucleus yet at the #LHC Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dJ7qByQS

We like building things and breaking things. We like talking about the universe and particles, but we also like a bunch of other things. From mechanics, data science, software engineering, international relations, firefighting to our plans for a weekend in the mountains and lakes. We like people like us, and we love people that are not like us. Experienced or not, let’s meet and make CERN a place like nowhere else on Earth. Explore our open opportunities at careers.cern CERN.
