Portrait of Henry VIII by Joos van Cleve. The portrait is frequently dated to c.1535, during Henry VIII’s marriage to Anne Boleyn. Henry is depicted carrying a scroll which contains the inscription: 'Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature' (Mark 16.15). The same passage was used on the title page for Coverdale’s Bible of 1535 (designed by Hans Holbein the Younger).
