Looking for a free STEM activity for the elementary classroom? Teachers are loving STEM because it's fun, hands-on, and engaging. The challenges are great for team building. This challenge is free and easy to implement. Great for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders. I usually use this challenge for back to school stem, but it can be done at any time. Students will have a great time working together to discuss, design, build, and reflect.

A perfect activity for encouraging temwork in the STEM lab or a regular classroom. All you need is string and a little imagination!

Perfect for Shark Week! It’s a STEM Challenge featuring sharks. Students will design a trap to catch a shark but in a safe and comfortable way. They must have a trap door that opens and closes and a cage that will allow freedom of movement for the shark. They may also design their own shark model!

The end of the school year is such a special time as testing winds down, and you finish teaching those last few standards. You may even find you have little pockets of time throughout your days when you and your students can work to strengthen that special classroom community bond that's been building throughout the year. One of my favorite ways to savor that last few weeks with my family-away-from-home before they head off for summer break is through design challenges and game play.
