Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Baring Road, Cowes, Isle of Wight. Road works to build a pavement along the eastern side of the road, from Crossfield Avenue to Tuttons Hill had been completed by this time, as seen here. This is the end nearest to Crossfield Avenue. This side of Baring Road features the old walls of Northwood Estate, and the wall bends slightly for everyone's driveways. Previously, the edge of the road was tarmaced to the edge of the driveway, however, the new pavement is straight, and follows the general line of the wall. Because of this, for a while, residents had a gap between the end of their driveway and the pavement. However, after the main workmen from the work's contractors (Crown Park) finished, more workers came. These went to everyone's driveways and fixed the problem. In this particular photo, the gap between the plain concrete and the new pavement has been tarmaced. For residents with block paved driveways, the block paving was extended.
