[edit]
Description
British English: No. 322 (Dutch) Squadron RAF badge.
Heraldic description:
In silver a red-tailed parrot in natural colours, sitting on a gold stick. The whole is surrounded by the established frame, with Arabic numerals of saber '322' on the oval-shaped plate and with the emblem saying 'niet praten maar doen' (Dutch for 'don't talk but do').
Symbolic meaning:
Polly Gray is the name of the mascot of the Dutch 322 Squadron. In August 1943, one of the squadron's officers returned from leave from London, bringing this red-tailed parrot with him. This first Polly Gray came from the London zoo. The emblem was awarded by HM King George VI for participation as a Fighter Squadron in the RAF during the Second World War in the 322 Squadron. The spell 'don't talk but do' symbolises the squadron's activities.
