Description
Français : Plaque apposée sur le mur extérieur du cimetière de Passy, avenue Georges-Mandel, Paris 16e.
« Georges Mandel, 1885-1944. Collaborateur direct et confident de Georges Clemenceau, il contribua à galvaniser à ses côtés de 1914 à 1918 le moral et l'énergie de la nation. Ministre des PTT, des Colonies, puis de l'Intérieur aux heures les plus critiques de 1940, il se refusa à accepter la capitulation. Immédiatement arrêté, incarcéré de prison en prison, il fut ensuite livré aux hitlériens et déporté. Renvoyé en France comme otage, il fut lâchement assassiné par la Gestapo et la milice le 7 juillet 1944. Par son patriotisme indomptable et exemplaire, Georges Mandel a bien mérité de la nation. »
