Cannot see both parents messages on Ace app

ANSWERED

Wife and I have both have the Ace/App and message our child but we don't see each others messages only our child's responses. Isn't the app supposed to sync and make all messages to and from visible ?

Thanks,

Accepted Solutions

Yes, if both your app and her app are sharing the same Google account, replies will go to both.  The conversations aren't synced though.  Only the device that sends the message will have the sent message.

You shouldn't see messages from other people, only yourself.  It's just like texting.

That's just it- It should be like group text/messages- So you can actually see what the other parent sent to the child thru the App- Hope this can be updated/fixed.

I think the solution would be to add a group text option.  I don't think being able to see everything the kid texts to everybody is good.  The kid needs to have some privacy.

The point being- I see responses from my daughter and have no idea what the original context might be if my wife texted her and not me and I don't have visibility to this-  This has zero to do with privacy.

Oh, so if your daughter is responding to your wife, you see your daughters response?  That shouldn't be happening.  You should only see your thread between you and your kid.  Check the watch.  Maybe your daughter is responding to you by accident.

Yeah I mean if they are having a conversation great but I don't want to see random replies that aren't related to what I sent thru- We are the only contacts on the shared parent account- Was thinking of trying to add my wife as a secondary contact and see if that changes things.

If you are both sharing an app login, that's the issue right there.  99% sure the conversation is not synced across all instances of the account.

Not using a shared log-on - Set up as instructed during- Each has own phone and the normal App- Not sure why this is so hard.

So, just to be clear.  Your wife sends a message to your kid.  Your kid replies but it goes to both your phone and your wife's phone?  If that's not correct, can you give me an example of what you are seeing?

Yes, that's correct. -)

I don't know how that's possible.  You probably done all of this already but...

  • verify that you and your wife signed into the app using different gmail accounts.
  • verify that your kid has two contacts on their watch, you and your wife.
  • verify that your kid is only responding to whoever sent the text.  Maybe she is getting confused and is responding to the wrong person sometimes.
  • What happens when your daughter makes a call?  Does it go to both?

Otherwise, I'd say that is a gigantic bug if the watch is sending responses to all of the contacts instead of just the one specified.  I have multiple contacts on my kid's watch and it only goes to who it's supposed to go to.

Good info - Thx will work thru this. I bet its because she's probably signed into our shared account since she never uses her original Gmail acct and refuses to do so - lol

So the problem is now that although my wife is a parent with permissions on our Google/Family account-  When selecting add parent to the App so my wife can have independent texting with our daughter it just sends us to the family account link and doesn't actually do anything and or says she's already a parent-

Not sure what else to do/try ?

So if you were to go to your "People and Sharing" section on your Google Account page, she is listed as a parent right?  I don't think I had to invite my wife.  I believe she was already showing in the contacts in the Ace App.  Usually adding a contact just gives you a screen where you send that person an email.  I'm assuming that it's different when it's a parent because that is part of the Google Family account.  It's silly but try rebooting the watch.
