Crafting with the Kiddos: Craft Stick Arctic Animals

Sharing is caring!

I have to admit that I have become addicted to picking up craft supplies at the Dollar Tree, especially when I am crafting with the kiddos in my life.  There are always a ton of traditional materials and a great variety of holiday-themed supplies all at just one dollar each.  Plus there is always a Dollar Tree nearby.  Today we are making craft stick arctic animals, a Moose, a Polar Bear, a Penguin, and a Walrus!

Here's how to create Artic Animals from Craft Sticks:

STEP ONE

Gather all supplies and cover your work surface.

Materials for Craft Stick Arctic Animals Creatively Beth #creativelybeth #craftstickcrafts #dollartreecrafts #kidscrafts

Measure and cut four rectangles three-inches wide by five-inches long and attach each one to the back of five wooden craft sticks with the glue gun and glue sticks.  I always use a low temp glue gun when I'm crafting with the kiddos.

STEP TWO

Basecoat Penguin with Lamp Black, Polar Bear with Titanium White, Moose with Raw Sienna, and Walrus with Dark Chocolate.  Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.  I love using DecoArt® Americana Acrylics because they are richly pigmented, apply easily and rarely require a second coat.

STEP THREE

Download, print and cut out CRAFT STICK ARCTIC ANIMALS PATTERNS.  Trace onto craft foam according to directions on the pattern sheet.  Cut out all patterns with scissors.

STEP FOUR

For Walrus, glue a toothpick into the center of each large brown pom pom.  Attach pom pom nose and muzzle and then wiggle eyes to walrus with the glue gun and glue sticks.

STEP FIVE

For Polar Bear, glue the small black pom pom to the top center of craft foam muzzle and draw mouth and dots with a permanent marker.  Attach ears to top right and left of polar bear and wiggle eyes just above muzzle.
