  • How can we make gender equity relevant to men? Join us for an insightful online webinar featuring Sarah DiMuccio, who has extensively researched this topic and worked with Catalyst. 🌟 In this session, we will explore the what, why, and how of engaging men in gender equity at work. We’ll discuss how societal and organizational masculinity norms create obstacles to involving men and how to overcome these challenges. Additionally, we’ll introduce the concept of ‘gender partnership’ - a term that serves as an alternative to ‘allyship’ - to help break down barriers and encourage everyone to contribute to achieving greater equity in the workplace and beyond. #Inclusiveworkplace #genderequity #DEI

  • Allyship was the focus of discussion at the DEI Club this week, exploring how to introduce the concept meaningfully in organizations. We discussed the importance of approaching the introduction of allyship in an organization tactically, to avoid creating resistance and instead respect where the organization and individuals are in their understanding and buy-in to the DEI agenda. Eleni's summary highlights some key points that emerged from our conversation. 🌟

All eyes on #Allyship! 👀 Great to participate in an insightful roundtable discussion on allyship with the DEI Club! 🌟 Here are some key takeaways: ▶ Definition of Allyship: Keep it simple. For me, it encompasses any steps taken towards knowledge or action that helps support disadvantaged individuals or groups. ▶ Framework of Reference: I prefer the 3-layered one that focuses on #individual allyship (actions taken to change ourselves), #interpersonal allyship (actions taken towards groups of people), and #systemic allyship (actions taken to change norms, policies or systems). ▶ Importance of #Agency: It's crucial for individuals to have the agency in choosing the actions they want to take towards being an ally. Everyone has a different starting point, so actions can look different for individuals and organisations depending on the level of maturity. All are welcome! ▶ Ally as a label: Can people self-identify as allies? Or is it a label only others can bestow on one? I argue that it is fantastic if people understand enough about allyship to want to identify as an ally. Having said that, it is everyone's responsibility to keep each other and ourselves accountable for true allyship vs #performativeallyship. ▶ Key Barriers: What keeps people from acting as allies? Common obstacles include fear - fear of saying the wrong thing, of getting cancelled, or tarnishing one's self-image. In our DEI efforts, it is important to maintain a #safeenvironment for all involved, whether they belong to a dominant or minority group. Final words: proceed with empathy and integrate #DEI into HR processes so it can really become part of the organisational culture. Big thank you to Cecilie Rosengreen Kringel (she/her) for providing us the platform for these conversations and for her expert moderation, and to Sarah DiMuccio, Ph.D. for all her insights, especially on male allyship. 👏 #Allyship #DEI #InclusiveWorkplaces

  • Key insights from our latest DEI Leader event! 🌟 At our recent DEI Leader Panel Discussion, we gathered valuable insights on driving DEI initiatives forward. Here are the highlights: 💡 Board-Level commitment: The support of your board matters. Board sponsorship is crucial to embed DEI at the highest levels of decision-making and resource allocation. 💡 Integrate DEI into Business Strategy: DEI should be an integral part of your business strategy, not a standalone initiative. This seamless integration ensures that DEI principles guide all aspects of your operations. 💡 Holistic social impact: There's a growing trend of combining ESG efforts with DEI initiatives under a broader 'social impact' umbrella. This comprehensive approach amplifies the positive change we can achieve together. 💡 Measure impact: Utilize comprehensive surveys and tools to continuously assess the employee experience and measure the year-over-year impact of your DEI initiatives. 💡 Engage everyone: DEI is a collective effort! Encourage all employees to actively participate by incorporating DEI contributions into performance assessments. This ensures that DEI work is recognized and valued across the organization. 💡 Regional nuances matter: Navigating DEI across different regions comes with unique challenges. For instance, "diversity fatigue" in the US might not resonate globally. The approach to DEI must be culturally sensitive and adaptable. Thank you to our fantastic panelists! 🙌🏽💫 #DEI #DiversityEquityInclusion #SocialImpact #BusinessStrategy #EmployeeEngagement #

  • Are you prepared for increasing pay transparency? Pay gap transparency and reporting are becoming mainstream worldwide, as employees increasingly demand transparency and fairness from their employers. Legislation mandating pay transparency is also on the rise, reflecting growing global awareness and regulatory action Yesterday, Pay Gap Expert and Strategist Michelle Gyimah participated in a live Q&A session in DEI Club, sharing her insights with members from various regions. Here's some of the advice shared: 🖋 If you work internationally, understand regional differences 🖋 Avoid treating Pay Gap reporting as a tick-box exercise - focusing only on making numbers look good 🖋 You must understand the root causes of potential gender pay gaps 🖋 Every context is different - avoid simply copying what others are doing 🖋 Analyze and act on both qualitative and quantitative data related to pay gaps 🖋 Work simultaneously with quick wins and longer-term interventions 🖋 Regularly communicate about pay practices and the steps being taken to address pay gaps. Thank you for sharing your brilliant insights, Michelle ✨ WANT TO LEARN MORE?
