[[Alcohol (drug)|Alcohol]] has a long association of military use, and has been called "liquid courage" for its role in preparing troops for battle.

 

Reports from the [[Russian invasion of Ukraine]] in 2022 and since suggested that Russian soldiers are drinking significant amount of alcohol (as well as consuming harder drugs), which increases their losses.
