Line 99:
The biggest event of the afternoon is the '''Grand Duck Race''' on the River Esk, where 1000 numbered plastic ducks are launched along the river towards a finishing point some {{Convert|250|yd|m|lk=off}} downstream. The six fastest ducks are then picked out at the finishing line to win cash prizes. The ducks are launched from the top of the village bridge. In previous years the duck race began at the village stepping stones, some {{Convert|210|yd|m|lk=off}} upstream, however numerous ducks would get stuck on the slow bend of the river, taking over half an hour to arrive at the finish line.
