A commemorative plaque in Stryi.

There are numerous monuments to Bandera in different cities in Ukraine.[1] Monuments to Bandera, a Ukrainian leader of a split faction of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists leadership, have been erected in Galicia, Volyn and partially in Western Podillia (administratively Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne and Ternopil region), but there are projects to erect monuments to Bandera in cities of other regions in the west of the country, in particular in Lutsk and Khmelnytsky.[2][3] Also, the question of erecting a monument or memorial sign in honor of Bandera in the capital of the state Kyiv was repeatedly raised,[4][5] as well as in Chernivtsi. Over 40 monuments have been erected.

In 2016, twenty Ukrainian Jewish groups condemned the Ukrainian state's rehabilitation of the UPA and OUN.[6]

In 2022, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the historian Grzegorz Rossoliński-Liebe stated that neither Stepan Bandera or the OUN are a symbols of the current Ukrainian government and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not presenting Bandera or war criminals as national heroes. Nevertheless, the memory of Bandera can be found in Ukraine.[7]

The first January 2023, the birthday of Bandera, the Ukrainian parliament quoted his words declaring that "the complete and supreme victory of Ukrainian nationalism will be when the Russian Empire ceases to exist."[8]
