Ashanti is the self-titled debut album by American R&B/pop singer Ashanti, released in 2002 (see 2002 in music). The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 selling over 503,000 copies in its first week—the largest first-weeks sales by a new female artist. It sold over 5 million copies in the U.S. [1] and over 6 million worldwide.[2] The album earned Ashanti a Grammy Award for "Best Contemporary R&B Album" in 2003.
