Marvi Memon (born July, 1972; Template:Lang-sd, (Template:Lang-ur) is a politician from Karachi. She is a former Member of National Assembly of Pakistan.[1]
Family and education
Marvi Memon's father, Nisar Memon is a prominent politician and Senator in Pakistan .Marvi Memon daughter of Nisar was born in Karachi on August 21, 1972. After schooling in Karachi and Paris, Marvi Memon graduated from the London School of Economics with a B.Sc (Econ) Honors in International Relations. With internships at Dawn, Newsline, Pakistan Institute of International Affairs, and International Union for Conservation of Nature, she started her career as a banker at Citibank Pakistan where she specialized in Marketing and Quality Management for the consumer bank. After which she launched Pakistan’s first satellite tracking fleet management concern Trakker, which established her as an entrepreneur and the youngest woman CEO of a multinational firm. Her next assignment led her to advising the leadership on Media Management. After which she advised on Investments. She has publications in research journals and newspapers relating to Foreign Affairs in her name. She enjoys playing golf, cooking and painting. She has a son who is 11.
Citi Bank career
She started her career as a banker at Citibank where she specialized in Marketing and Quality Management. After that, she launched Pakistan's first satellite tracking fleet management for NATO supplies concern which established her as an entrepreneur and the youngest woman CEO at the time but also has led to criticism of her support for NATO's role in Afghanistan. Here in Pakistan she also worked with Pakistan Television when here father was Information Minister, later she moved to ISPR and was providing DATA to General Pervez Musharaf.
PML-N support
Marvi Memon was politically affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League (Q) but resigned from the party and the National Assembly on July 20, 2011 because of some problems with the leadership. She is now politically affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League (N).[2]
Responsibilities in the National Assembly
Marvi Memon was a member of the National Assembly committees and resigned on June 22, 2011.[1]
After resignation, she was promptly contacted by Members of PMLN and Imran Khan (Chairman PTI) to join their respective Political Parties.[citation needed] But eventually joined PMLN on March 4, 2012. She has been severely criticized in Pakistan after switching party allegiance to PML(N) and credibility is under question.
