What's the point of net points?
Thanks to Hollywood accounting, royalties on net margin rarely if ever pay out. But it seems like they're still assigned in contracts. Why? It seems pointless if they're not going to be paid.
I had a (fairly quick) look but couldn't find anything. I think it would be a useful addition to Hollywood accounting if anyone knows of a source discussing why net points are still assigned. AlmostReadytoFly (talk) 15:29, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Big Bang Theory living room, object on wall
In most, or maybe all, seasons of the U.S. sitcom The Big Bang Theory, there's something on a wall in the living room set that has always interested and baffled me. (There's some interesting stuff in that set. For example, from the usual camera and studio audience angle, there's a piece of furniture in the background that looks like a physical card catalog from a library.)
The thing that baffles me is something apparently made from wood, maybe 8 inches across, 2 or 3 feet high, and a few inches deep. There are silver or white horizontal "things" in it; maybe it has slots for something. It's mounted on a vertical beam.
In the picture on this page [1], with Leonard's chin in his hand, the thing is right above his head. Some episodes show it in a much better close-up, especially if the actors are moving around. I used to always notice it when watching the show and wondered what it is. (Also, in some seasons, the card catalog seems much larger and wider. I used to use physical card catalogs, and they were cool, but of course inefficient compared with today's technology. But I digress.)
Anyway, if anyone has any idea what this thing-on-the-wall is, please enlighten me! Thanks. David10244 (talk) 06:01, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

Golden Lady
It is a matter of common knowledge that Stevie Wonder’s song "Golden Lady" is about the beautiful and talented Minnie Riperton. I suspect that this was disclosed in an interview with Wonder at some point after 1973. For the life of me, I cannot find a source for this statement, as I want nothing more than to add it to the article about the song. Any help with this would be appreciated. - I couldn't find anything in Newspapers.com, but there are various references in Google. I don't know how "official" this one is:[3] ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 10:44, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

glass of empire state building observation deck
how much number of glass panes survived in the movie king kong 2005? The biplanes are tried hard to kill king kong at the spire of empire state buidling but sadly they indirectly struck glass panes at the observation deck several times resulting in them either lost or damaged i think the number of survivor of the glass panes are either 2 3 or even 5 to 10. please correct me if i am wrong. 2404:8000:1027:85F6:8436:BBAC:942B:3011 (talk) 04:02, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

- Also, there are three "observation deck" levels. There is the main deck that used to be the gift shop, but is now the bathroom level. There is the upper observation deck. Then, there is the private observation deck. Are you asking only about the main deck or two of them or all three of them? Once that is known, it is necessary to watch the movie and try to count how many windows are broken. 12.116.29.106 (talk) 14:39, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

- They may have been sold off-screen as souvenirs. I wonder if the broken window panes were covered by insurance. BTW, is it known what happened to the body of King Kong after his death? Was it buried? Was it preserved by taxidermy or otherwise? We may need one or several sequels to the documentary, which ends rather abruptly, to find the answers to such questions. --Lambiam 12:45, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- The skeleton was sold for £121,250 ($200,305). Clarityfiend (talk) 00:07, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Angela Lansbury's accent

- She had her own idiolect of course, and it did drift and change throughout her life (as most people's do). I would classify her later-life accent as the Mid-Atlantic accent (not to be confused with Mid-Atlantic American English, to which it is unrelated). Which is to say it is somewhere about halfway between RP and General American. --Jayron32 10:46, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
French actresses in hair-cut protest video
This BBC video shows many famous French women cutting their hair to protest the death of Mahsa Amini (I think the same video is also on a number of other websites too). The accompanying text only identifies Juliette Binoche and Marion Cotillard (although I don't recognise Cotillard in the video). Can anyone help figure out who everyone is? So far I only identify:
- 0:00 Juliette Binoche
- 0:07 ?
- 0:18 ?
- 0:19 ?
- 0:20 ?
- 0:21 ?
- 0:22 ?
- 0:23 ?
- 0:24 ?
- 0:29 Abir Al-Sahlani
- 0:34 ?
- 0:35 ?
- 0:37 ?
- 0:39 Jane Birkin and Charlotte Gainsbourg
- 0:40 ?
- 0:41
- 0:42 Abir Al-Sahlani again
- 0:55 Mahsa Amini
- 1:08 Ravina Shamdasani
- 1:20 ?
- 1:21 ?
- 1:22 Mélanie Laurent, I think
- 1:23 Charlotte Rampling
and then lots of people in quick succession 51.7.144.172 (talk) 23:30, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- I can't find a full list, but various articles about the video also mention Isabelle Hupert, Isabelle Adjani, Julie Gayet and Pomme as other participants. This article [4] includes a list of twitter addresses for the participants; that should help you identify some of the others. Xuxl (talk) 14:23, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
