excitement

[edit]

The excitement of mud wrestling arises from a number of factors. Firstly, the mud provides a glorious sheen on the bodies of the wrestlers which accentuates their attractiveness. Secondly, the randomness of the fight allows for more unconventional glimpses of the wrestlers' bodies than in normal striptease. Thirdly, the fight usually results in the accidental, or deliberate, removal of the wrestlers' bikinis, with the expected rise in audience excitement. Fourthly, there is an obvious pseudo-lesbianism to the wrestling.

Pop culture

There should be a section that lists mentions of mud wrestling (and jelly wrestling) in TV and movies. I would create one now, but first I need to confirm whether Hill Street Blues is the show I'm remembering that had a mud wrestling scene. I know that A Different World had an episode in which a student and a professor each separately mention plans to see a "don't-miss" match-up at a local mud-wrestling event. Coupling also mentions jelly wrestling, which is how I ended up here in the first place. In Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13,Goku mentions to Gohan that ChiChi's shopping scene is like the mud wrestling video Goku showed him. Lawikitejana 07:42, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

American style mud wrestling first started in a bar in Pennsylvannia somewhere in 1974-1976. The movie 'Zardoz' (1974) also had a mud wrestling scene. 63.215.28.20 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 20:27, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article completely ignores that most cultures (Greek & Roman in particular) did ALL of their wrestling in oil. This was to increase the difficulty and help develop strength and technique. People who could not afford the oil used mud. In addition, wrestling in a special clay mix has been a standard (if minor) competition in Germany involving men of exceptional fitness.Aaaronsmith (talk) 03:33, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think there was a moment in the movie "UHF" directed by "Weird Al" Yankovic in which "celebrity mud wrestling with Mikhail Gorbachev" was mentioned as an upcoming show. I don't own the movie so I can't remember for sure, but it would be good to add that if I'm right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.82.194.240 (talk) 01:45, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
