[edit]The issue of this article not covering his South African career was was raised on facebook and his son responded:
Played for Crystal Palace and Ipswich (winning the league in 1961) as goalkeeper …and then towards the end of his career in 1965 moved Brothers in South Africa and then onto Southern Suburbs. Got the role as player manager and then full time manager. Gained success with Suburbs including a few trophies, and then Cape Tow City signed him as Manager for the start of 1973. He won the league and 2 cups in 1973 and a cup in 1974. He moved to Pretoria and the end of the 1975 season to work for the national coaching organisation travelling Southern Africa running coaching courses. He was a Currie cup coach on a few occasions and manager of the national multi racial side that drew 1-1 with Rhodesia in 1977. He died from cancer on April 10th 1993.
