Unterseeboot 214 (U-214) was a Type VIID submarine of the Kriegsmarine. She was laid down 5 October, 1940 by Germaniawerft in Kiel. She was commissioned on 1 November, 1941 with Kapitänleutnant Günther Reeder in command. She trained with the 5. Unterseebootsflottille on 1 November, 1941 until 30 Apr, 1942 and then finally on the 9. Unterseebootflottille from 1 May, 1942 to 26 July 1944.


While serving as the lead boat on 22 May 1942 in the 9. Unterseebootflottille she was attacked by and damaged by aircraft.
