The da Vinci Barnstar
This award is given to User:Gilabrand in recognition of all your imaginative and original photographs related to topics about Israel and Judaism, as can be seen on your user page. In particular, I was impressed by how many of these photographs enhance so many articles about people, places and things in Israel. Mazal Tov and may you be blessed to continue contributing to Wikipedia in this productive fashion for a long time to come. See Wikipedia:Barnstars: "The da Vinci Barnstar may be awarded to anyone who has enhanced Wikipedia through their technical work..." and you most certainly deserve it. Sincerely, IZAK (talk) 04:31, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to give you the copyeditor's barnstar, but I then realized that would be shortchanging your many other valuable contributions to and helping out with Israel and Judaism related articles. Much appreciated! nadav (talk) 07:12, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hi Gilabrand, Thanks for all your contributions on the Israeli cuisine article over the past few months. I'm happy to see that it has been promoted to GA status and I'm sure that is in no small part due to your efforts! Best regards, --- Chefallen (talk) 19:41, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thank you so much for the edits in Jewish wedding. I thought it would take years to make it a decent article, and you made it in a few minutes. Definitely this is a case where being WP:BOLD is the one and only solution ! --Licory (talk) 19:12, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thaks for this. I have this article on my watchlist and it seems to be a target for vandalism etc., so it's nice to see your good and useful contribution. Keep up the good work! Herostratus (talk) 17:32, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, nice editing and picture-adding on this article. What are your thoughts on breaking off the cemetery into a separate article, such as Mount of Olives (Jewish cemetery), which would help us expand on the history of burials here? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 08:03, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a good idea. The lists on this page are really getting out of hand...I wouldn't write "Jewish cemetery" in parentheses, though. I think I would call the article "Mount of Olives Cemetery" and link it to this one.--Geewhiz (talk) 09:00, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

for the interesting etymological article you linked to in Emek Refaim. I have learnt something, for which I am grateful. RolandR (talk) 11:20, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for this edit. I was going to do something similar last night, but was too tired when I got home, and had to go to bed. --NSH001 (talk) 06:28, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reassessing Ayoob Kara. :) --Metallurgist (talk) 03:23, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, do you have any recommendations for how to improve it further?

Allar, Jerusalem

Please restore the original article name and open a move request. Thanks. Tiamuttalk 19:14, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ahalan wasahalan, Tiamut. Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all is well. About Allar, the article clearly states that it is 17 kilometers from Jerusalem, which puts it in the Jerusalem District. The only reason for adding anything to the village name is for disambiguation purposes. For that purpose, Allar (village) seems best but since you have done some nice work on the article, I'll leave that up to you.--Geewhiz (talk) 06:13, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ahlan fiki Gilabrand. I don't know which source says its 17km from Jerusalem so I've removed that bit and gone with Petersen's description which is simply southwest of Jerusalem. Palestinian villages depopulated in 1948 are generally disambiguated by including the name of the district they were located in without prefacing it by "District of..." - its too wordy. As a result, I've moved it back to the original title. I think I violated 1RR by doing so, but don't want to undo and create an even bigger mess, so I've asked at arbitration for advice on how to proceed. In the future, if you could open a discussion on the talk page before moving pages, that would be good. We could then avoid these back and forths altogether then. Take care, Tiamuttalk 08:48, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Water supply and sanitation in Israel

Thank you for your edits to this article, which are greatly appreciated. I noticed that the history section has been moved only partially and perhaps you had to interrupt your work on the article. If that is the case, I just wanted to encourage you to continue to move the history section completely. Also, I noticed that you added a picture of the Menashe artificial recharge plant. Since the article has no content on artificial recharge yet, you may want to add such information. One possible source is here:http://www.mekorot.co.il/Eng/Activities/Pages/WastewaterTreatmentandReclamation.aspx. Keep on the good work!--Mschiffler (talk) 20:47, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi you said that all my changes are vandalism on be'er sheva articale. Education:

I've added notes about the educational research facilities (they are external enteties of SCE and BGU) but you removed them. In israel there is a very strong differences between academic colleges that provide Bachelor and Masters degrees to some college that provide courses , you removed the modification about that. Geography: you removed information about the be'er sheva-gaza canyon (that is in the middle of the city) you removed the notes about Nahal Be'er sheva (the polution and the cleaning ) the situation that was with the west nile virus. Rasicsm issues: you removed all the points to the russian panthers (political movement) to the attacks against the russian speaking children (that was the reason for the success of the wrestling teams). Smoking issues: isn't that important that in the chances to get a fine for smoking in public in this city are the largest in the country ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.226.26.136 (talk) 13:46, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

All information added to the article must be based on reliable sources. The data you added was "original research." Not everyone editing here is a native English speaker, but when you make additions in English, you should try your best to check the spelling and grammar, and use capitalization where necessary. Some information was removed because it gives undue weight to issues that are trivial in the context of a city article. Your editing may not have been intentional vandalism, but it certainly looked like it. --Geewhiz (talk) 13:57, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can understand problems with the language , but each of the fact I pointed had referenced (from the russian panthers) to the news papers pointing about fines and pollution. allmost each point had it facts. now page provide false information as in Israel there is a definitive difference between Uni+ Acdemic college and some ZZZ college. The names are written wrong in the page after undoing my changes (example the existence of a CAMPUS of Air and Space college and not the college being only in Be'er sheva). the references I added was from newspapers and from government publications (about the pollution and cleaning). for example the fines on smoking are extremely rare in Tel aviv (254 against more then 1000 in be'er sheva) Jerusalem Ashdod and Haifa (some the cities with the biggest population in Israel). Forgot to say that Nahal Be'er sheva is a tourist attraction facility and the polution with that area had effects on tourism — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.226.26.136 (talk) 14:12, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could you take a look at the recent edits to this page? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 19:39, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! Yoninah (talk) 21:51, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cut & paste moves

I see you recently moved Ein Kerem to Ein Karem by cutting and pasting, which is forbidden as it is a licencing violation (and it also means the talk page is effectively lost). If you want to move a page, you have to use the move tab at the top. If that doesn't work, you have to use the WP:RM process. I've repaired the mess this time, but please try and avoid such moves in future. Thanks, Number 57 14:54, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reason you're not reporting the Belgian IPs that're hounding all your edits lately? They've become quite a nuisance.—Biosketch (talk) 09:37, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Genealogy

Re: Folke Bernadotte - I have seen to it that the excessive genealogy once in this article (and many others) has been edited and reduced considerably. So I fully agree with your edit summary comment. But isn't it customary to mention the children of a person with a WP biography? SergeWoodzing (talk) 12:50, 27 February 2012 (UTC) moved to article's talk page. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 12:56, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"your opinion of the source is of no significance"

This insulting edit summary of yours is factually incorrect. Just as you are, I am required by the rules to judge the reliability of sources. A source that thinks Bernadotte was the Chairman of the International Red Cross and was killed with a bomb is not reliable. I happen to be familiar with both these sources, are you? Zerotalk 09:35, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion is of no significance. John Loftus has written a book and there is no indication it is not an RS. You have called it rubbish, and that is your opinion, which may have significance for yourself, but not for Wikipedia. You have not been appointed as a judge. You must be reading a different set of rules.--Geewhiz (talk) 09:43, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There are no rules for the applicability of WP:RS to particular sources other than the judgement of editors. You make such judgements very often, there are several examples right on the first page of your contribs. Moreover, the onus is on insertion not deletion, so actually it is you who has to establish reliability. Zerotalk 09:57, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As far as reliability goes, it doesn't look very promising.     ←   ZScarpia   23:25, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need Hebrew-language translator

I need someone to translate my English proposal into Hebrew to delist File:Taylor, Elizabeth posed.jpg as a Featured Picture of Hebrew Wikipedia. This issue is discussed in WP:Editor assistance/Requests. This is the same message from User talk:IZAK. IZAK recommends me to contact you if you are available. --George Ho (talk) 08:51, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that I don't understand the English.--Geewhiz (talk) 09:02, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Here's my broken version, but hopefully simple English for you:

Photo made in 1955. Available to public (or "publication" if you understand) unknown and not well-proven. Deletion proposed in commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Taylor, Elizabeth posed.jpg

I hope this helps you translate into Hebrew easily. --George Ho (talk) 09:16, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Forgot the link he:קובץ:Taylor, Elizabeth posed.jpg. --George Ho (talk) 09:20, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hope this works for you.

(copyedit if that doesn't look good) Also, in he:ויקיפדיה:תמונה מומלצת/הוספה למומלצות/דיונים, where can I propose a delisting? --George Ho (talk) 09:45, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Israel project assessments

I should be able to diagnose any problems with the assessment tables. Could you let me know which table you are looking at, that may not be updating correctly? You can just tell me which page you are looking at and I can work from there. Thanks, — Carl (CBM · talk) 23:56, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm talking about this page.[[1]] One example of an article that was upgraded from start to stub (out of dozens) is Gan Shmuel. But it is still on the stub list.--Geewhiz (talk) 09:18, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Gilabrand. An IP editor made a rather confusing complaint at WP:AN3#NDS Group. Replying to a single-use IP is not always worthwhile. I noticed your name in the edit history, as someone who had previously reverted one of the people who possibly has a COI, User talk:Shmecklebort. If you think this issue needs wider review, consider opening a report at WP:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. This would be a better place than AN3 to look into such a problem. If you don't think any admin assistance is needed, then ignore this. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 20:49, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
