A mother and her two children cannot really disappear unnoticed. I was wondering if the NH State Police, RI State Police or the Federal Bureau of Investigation, ever investigated the possibility that the women found were Elaine Carolyn Yates and her two children, Kimberly Ann Yates and Kelly Ann Yates, of Warwick, RI? The two daughters were around the ages specified by the NH State Police, although Elaine I believe was 37-38 at the time of the disappearance. This could very easily be determined, by obtaining a DNA sample from the girls father, Mr. Russell M. Yates Jr., and comparing it to the DNA of the two Bear Brook victims, known to be related to the adult victim. Even if this turned out to be true, it would still be a mystery who the third little girl was. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.245.36.101 (talk) 20:02, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

External media
@Wahrmund: You wrote: "These images are either public records (not copyrightable) or were made by a non-profit organization which would have no reason to copyright them". In the US, works are copyrighted automatically, by default - while a non-profit may not have a reason to copyright them, unless they've expressly released them into the public domain or under a free license, the works are in fact copyrighted. And public records are generally copyrighted also, unless they are federal government works (which does not appear to be the case here, although it's hard to tell since we're not linking to the original source). Thus, the "external media" links you've restored cannot be included, per WP:LINKVIO. That being said, you could replace them with links to the original sources instead, which would not pose a LINKVIO problem. Nikkimaria (talk) 20:39, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- Are you a copyright lawyer? I do not believe that government documents are copyrighted. I have inserted links in the article which go to sites owned by the creators of the images. Wahrmund (talk) 21:09, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- "NCMEC does copyright their images. I personally messaged the organization last year requesting them to grant OTRS permissions to include higher-resolution images, which they declined, stating "NCMEC reconstructions are created for official dissemination by NCMEC and the investigators working the cases." The watermarked logo for their images also indicates copyright. --GouramiWatcherTalk 21:36, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- On another note, @Nikkimaria:, would it be alright to use external links to images hosted on the NamUs profiles for the victims? The organization is government-run, so I presume they followed regulations revolving around using the NCMEC images.--GouramiWatcherTalk 21:55, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, that would be fine. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:00, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Rethinking this story
Now that so much is known and that the story goes way beyond these four murders, maybe we need an article about Rasmussen telling the whole story?
I, for one, would like to see a timeline of all the related known facts. Where he was when and what notable events happened at each point.
--В²C ☎ 18:32, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
- I would endorse a separate article about Rasmussen, who has been implicated in a series of crimes unrelated to Bear Brook. Denise Beaudin, who is currently linked in the See also section doesn't actually have an article and only has a short section on the tangentially-related Disappearance of Laureen Rahn. Beaudin could either have a separate article or a much larger section on a separate article about Rasmussen. There's a lot of things to cover here and I don't know how much is in scope for the four murders that this article details.LM2000 (talk) 22:33, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
- I support Rasmussen getting his own article, but this set of murders are notable on its own. A lot was known about these cases before he was even linked to them.--GouramiWatcherTalk 02:45, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
- I don't have time to work on this right now. Just leaving this link here as a useful source showing a timeline about Rassmussen. [1]. Also, here's a super light start: User:Born2cycle/Terry_Rasmussen. Anyone, feel free to edit it. When it's at least at decent stub quality we can put in main article space. --В²C ☎ 22:49, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
I went ahead and expanded Terry Peder Rasmussen.LM2000 (talk) 06:16, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
