Brook → Brook (disambiguation) – Move to Brook (disambiguation) then retarget Brook to Brook (hydrology), the primary topic. fgnievinski (talk) 21:54, 19 May 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. DannyS712 (talk) 03:05, 27 May 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Polyamorph (talk) 08:48, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose Although Stream#Brook (the target of Brook (hydrology))is probably etymologically the basis for the surname and, directly or indirectly, most or all of the other uses, I don't think it will be searched for by more readers than all the other uses together which is the criterion for a Primary Topic. It might justify a "commonly refers to" listing at the top of the dab page. PamD 14:14, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Leaning support for historical importance, but Brook (hydrology) redirects to Stream, so this would need to point to Stream. If not moved, definitely move the Brook (hydrology) to the top of the dab page, as per PamD. BD2412 T 19:16, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Comment There's also the consideration that what's at Brook (hydrology) is little more than a dictionary definition. PamD 19:29, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Further comment: I've moved the "stream" sense to be the top entry on the page. It's the root meaning of the word, but far from the Primary Topic. PamD 19:33, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Reverted; this is contrary to MOS:DABFIRST. The link to Wiktionary is already in place for those seeking this meaning. 162 etc. (talk) 14:50, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- Per WP:DPT, can you reflect on the meaning of e.g. https://wikinav.toolforge.org/?language=en&title=Brook ? We see a lot of interest in the proposed primary topic, but also quite a nice spread of traffic otherwise, so I'd immediately say there isn't really one primary topic. Is there a risk of astonishing the average English reader by telling them that there's multiple terms known as "brook"? (Oppose primarily because there's no actual rationale in the proposal, just an assertion.) --Joy (talk) 08:19, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Weak oppose per PamD, maybe Beck should also be reconsidered. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:49, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nom. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:32, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
