Requests for assessment

[edit]

Editors can self-assess articles against the five B-class criteria(FAQ) up to and including C-Class. If you have made significant improvements to an article against one or more of B-class criteria and would like an outside opinion on a new rating for it, please feel free to list it below, specifying which criteria you have worked on. If you feel unable to assess against one or more of the B-class criteria, please say so when posting. Requests for formal A-Class review should be made at the review department. Please consider entering articles you have improved in the military history article writing contest.

Experienced assessors are encouraged to take a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators#AutoCheck report for November and check a few of ≈ B-Class assessments. Feel free to downgrade them if you consider they don't meet one or more the criteria. Please also delete any that you have checked. See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Spaceflight/Assessment, whose articles often overlap with military history topics.

  • Siege of Chittor. New article, waited for a bot to assess it. Maybe it could get B-class rating. Garudam Talk! 14:50, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Garudam: I agree with the current start class assessment. There is now no explanation of the statement "Rata and Kalla two resilient warriors were killed in the defense." I realize there is nothing more than that in the cited source but as it is there is nothing to tell the reader why they were important and what they did. If there is no more information about the siege than is in the article, it would be better to make this a section of an article about a campaign or war. Perhaps a C might be possible if more information can be added, especially about the significance of the warriors. As I usually write in this type of assessment, I do not mind if you request a second opinion from a current, or even a former, coordinator. Donner60 (talk) 10:08, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Battle of Mandalgarh. That's my old creation, please check if it could get B. Garudam Talk! 14:52, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
C class in form but overall rating of start is more accurate. This is a short article with most of the article about the prelude. Only one paragraph is about the battle itself. That paragraph has one sentence for the preliminary movement, one sentence for battle and two sentences for aftermath. If this is all the information that is available, this should not be a separate article. It should be combined as a section in a campaign or overall war article. Donner60 (talk) 09:51, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • First battle of Eran, new article, should check all the boxes for B-class? Garudam Talk! 08:17, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Most of this article is about Toramana. There is little information about the battle itself, even when it may have taken place - if at all. This article is a Content Forks|content fork and should be combined with the Toramana article. Any information that is in this article and not in the Toramana article, should be added to that article. Then you should have an interesting and complete B class article. First battle of Eran could be a short section in that article with a perhaps a separate redirect to that section from that title. This article should be removed. It could not be rated B class in any case because there is not enough information about the battle. I have skipped over your earlier articles because they are content forks or cover the same material as in other articles. I will go back and critique as I have time but these have similar problems to this article and also will likely need to be combined or changed. Donner60 (talk) 07:55, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Garudam: Earlier articles are probably not content forks. However, I still need to review them yet again. They are rather brief and may be related. I need to consider further whether a combined article of some sort may be best here. If any other assessor wishes to review these earlier to see what assessments they should have as stand-alone articles, please do so so. Donner60 (talk) 08:11, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A general request for a merger may be in order if this article is not merged in the near future. As it stands, it is a start article with the additional problem noted in the template. Donner60 (talk) 09:54, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Iraqi Civil Defense Corps - Moved some things here and there to keep it organized as much as I can. Propped up an infobox. I feel like the quotations being used are too much. Would like another set of eyes for this. Perhaps this can be rewritten. Ominae (talk) 05:07, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is not the page to request help on articles; it is for requests for assessment, including higher assessments up to B class. Please post these on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history. Post the request as a new item with a caption along the lines of "Help requested: (list the two articles)." I agree that they need editing for higher assessments than the start class that they are both rated. In particular, there are not enough citations at the end of paragraphs and quotations and possibly for other statements that interested readers might question. I recommend you do not post this as a sub-item under the first general topic of request for project input. The items posted there are mostly for moves, deletions and other more procedural questions. In either case, you may or may not receive input because responses by project members who read these posts is voluntary. Donner60 (talk) 09:01, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
