Title usage

[edit]

Use of the title The Encyclopedia Americana is strictly to acknowledge the original title of the edition of 1918–1920 which has gone into the public domain in the United States due to the expiration of its copyright there. Any reference to this material should explicitly note the original date of publication, which generally will be abbreviated to 1920.

Inaccuracies

[edit]

The articles of the 1918–1920 edition of The Encyclopedia Americana were based upon the information available to the editors and contributors at the time of their original publication in the early 20th century. Changing circumstances and more recent research may have rendered this information obsolete or revealed it to be inaccurate, especially in the areas of science, law, and ethnology. Readers should bear this in mind when using the information.
