Aaron and Shae on Instagram: "Here are two spherical rocks that we found in a loose shale slab after they fell from the cliff. Once extracted we opened them up with our hammer 🏝🌊 Inside the first nodule, a stunning eleganticeras ammonite from the Jurassic 😍🦑 Inside the second, a fossil poo! These ammonites are around 185 Million Years Old and would have swam the seas as prey for Ichthyosaurs, Plesiosaurs and Marine Crocodiles! 🐊 If you would like an ammonite rock to crack open, please message us directly @yorkshire.fossils or visit our website Yorkshirefossils.NET 🦕 For more videos, check out our YouTube channel Yorkshire Fossils 🏝 Thanks for supporting our page! 🐊 #natural #nature #fossil #fossils #ancient #animals #art #ammonite #ammonites #dinosaur #scientist #minerals #pale Diy Fossils, Sea Fossils, Fossil Art, Fossil Hunting, Fossil Bones, Rock Hunting, Rocks And Fossils, Dinosaur Fossils, Rock Hounding

Dr Dean Lomax on Instagram: "A pterosaur wing bone or a super long belemnite? 🤔

This is a cool, very delicate Jurassic belemnite called Youngibelus tubularis. It is around 180 million years old.

I spotted this one whilst collecting fossils near Whitby, along the Yorkshire Coast. I've been collecting these since about the age of 14, and finding them is always fun.

What you’re looking at is the rostrum or guard of the belemnite, the hard internal structure. The reconstruction is by @nobumichi.tamura , originally created for my first book, 'Fossils of the Whitby Coast'.
