The old-fashioned iced gems biscuits are popular snacks of kids and adults across the world. Now you can easily make these at home with this easy recipe with some pleasant twists.

Its Biscuits & Cookies week at Friday Food Fiesta this week. Fancy Gems Cookies manufactured by Khong Guan Biscuits. This always brings back fond childhood memories for me. It was something I look forward to during tea break when I was in play school. The kids would swap the biscuit with each other for their fav color. I aways could not decide which color I like best...coz I like them all. I guess my fascination with color started when I was really young. ;-)

I used to spy these gems at Chinese grocery shops. They were sold amoung many other kinds of biscuits which were stored and displayed in gigantic glass jars with push-down galvanized caps, usually placed strategically at the open end of the shop and were sold by the catty. Apart form Iced Gems we also had our local 'Oreos', our local Chocolate Bourbons, our local custard creams and our local Jammie Dodgers.....all being delicious legacies left behind by our then colonial masters. Icegems is a snack made with biscuit and hard icing. Its popular in Asia and other commonwealth countries. It was popular in the 80s among children but still available now, although not as popular.
