Sack-back gown and petticoat, 1775-1780. The very square hoops and sleeve ruffles at the elbow look back to the 1750s, while the centre front closure of the bodice is a feature of contemporary fashion. The gown and petticoat are trimmed with badded bands of blue satin, chenille blonde lace, flowers of gathered ribbon, feathers and raffia tassels.
