This sacred necklace was handcrafted by local artists in Mayapur, India using tulsi wood. The tulsi is carved by hand, and then treated with mustard oil, a traditional Indian method that prolongs the life of the wood, hardens it, and gives it beautiful luster and shine. It is strung together with genuine sterling silver accents and clasps. The piece features green jade beads as well as a handcarved tulsi pendant in the shape of a flowerbud, with a small green jade hanging off of it. Jade is known to be a protective stone, to soothe the mind and promote a peaceful inner world. In Hindu tradition, "Tulsi" is a close girlfriend of Krishna's, and represents a rasa lila (divine dance) between Krishna and all of his gopis (lovers). Necklace comes with a drawstring canvas bag. 15.
