❌ Never insert anything into the cast to scratch an itch (this can cause injury or infection to skin skin!) ✅ If the pt has an itch you can use a hairdryer on cool and direct it under the cast to relieve itching ❌ Don’t get the cast wet (moisture can lead to infection or mess with the casts material) ✅ Keep the cast clean and dry ❌ Don’t use powders or lotion in or around the cast ✅ Keep it clean & dry ❌ Don’t adjust or remove the cast yourself ✅Do follow guidelines for cast care provided ❌ Don’t ignore complaints from the pt or signs of discomfort ✅ Monitor for pain, numbness, tingling, or changes in sensation
