IMO and experience with semi-hydro, LECA pebbles are perfect for growing plants with chunky roots (think Monsteras & Anthuriums). But, the pieces are just too big to grow plants with fine, delicate root systems like Philodendrons, Hoyas, Ferns, Pilea, etc. For these plants, I recommend growing in a horticultural rock like Lechuza Pon instead. The pieces are much finer, and Pon even contains a slow-release fertilizer already so you don’t have to add one to the water reservoir. 😊
