Here’s #marchmeetthemakerday26 One really cool thing you can do with metal is texture it in a rolling mill. A rolling mill is a machine kind of like a pasta roller. It has two hard steel rollers and you pass your metal through them. You can roll the metal with soft materials like feathers, pressed leaves or flowers, lace, paper, etc and create beautiful textures. It blows my mind that I can imprint the texture of a fragile dried leaf into silver. Literally every time I do it i can’t believe the magic. I love making jewelry with roller printed metal. It’s a beautiful way to carry some nature with you wherever you go. #marchmeethemaker #meetthejewelrym Aluminum Tape Art, Texturing Metal For Jewelry, Paper Jewelry Making Tools, Metal Stamping Ideas, Sheet Metal Roller, Milling Machine Projects, Paper Bead Roller Tools, Texture Rollers For Clay, Machining Metal Projects

In this video I use a piece of shielding I got a re-use store, a piece of mesh armature wire, and a leaf. In order to protect the plates of the rolling mill I sandwich my annealed sterling silver between two work hardened pieces of brass. Keep in mind that your material will stretch in the rolling mill. It’s just like the old souvenir pennies that I remember getting as a kid. I like to start out with circles so I end up with an oval. You can also texture the piece first and cut out what you’d like after.“ Thank you for sending Joanna (and following up with me 🫶😉) I love the unique content this comm Rolling Mill, Creating Texture, Jewelry Tutorials, The Old, Circles, To Start, Cut Out, Rolls, Old Things
