The Potters Shed • Pottery Classes in Adelaide on Instagram: "As requested, I wanted to show you the way I make closed forms. It is a very effient technique to make pieces that need a lid. This way you dont need to throw them in two parts, you can do it all in one. One very important tip for thos type of shape is to leave some clay at the top to close your form, specially if you decide to make a round shape like that. You will need clay at the top to be able to close it and make the knob. Its better to have a little bit more clay and take it off then to not have enough! Happy potting everyone. Once the top is closed, you can press down on the piece with a rib to make a relatively flat top. This is possible because the air inside is supporting the pot.
