Local Animal Shelters Come Together for “Operation Silent Night”
Adoption specials and fostering opportunities help animals find a home for the holidays
Adoptable animals at Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC), Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) in Nashville, Cheatham County Animal Control (CCAC) and Maury County Animal Services (MCAS) are hopeful that Christmas Eve will find them amongst presents by the trees. To help make sure these animals’ wishes are not only in their dreams, the agencies are teaming up to offer $25 adoption fees to approved applicants through December as well as recruiting foster families.
“Our hope is that Christmas Eve will be a ‘silent night’ at our shelters because all of the kennels are empty,” said WCAC Director, Ondrea Johnson. “What better time than the holidays to share your home with a rescue animal?”
Anyone interested in sharing a spot under the mistletoe with an animal that is not adopted before the shelters close to the public for Christmas can call or visit their websites to learn about holiday fostering opportunities. Not only does fostering give the animals a temporary place to stay where the love light gleams, foster families are then able to educate shelter staff about how the pet did in their home, which increases the likelihood of a successful adoption in the future.
“We are excited to partner with our middle Tennessee shelter friends for Operation Silent Night again this year, this is an event that we look forward to every year,” said Ashley Harrington, MACC Director. “We all share the vision that every animal deserves a FURever family.”
