Charge other devices with Pixel

Use Battery Share to wirelessly charge Qi-certified phones or accessories, like Pixel Buds by setting your accessory or other phone on the back of your Pixel phone. Battery Share is available on Pixel 5 and later devices, excluding Pixel 6a, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Over time, your Pixel phone's battery may decline in performance due to usage patterns, temperature, and age. To help preserve battery life, some Pixel phones may automatically adjust their charging to manage device and battery temperatures. In some cases, this could result in slower charging speed.

How Battery Share works

Important: To charge an accessory or device through Battery Share, the device must support Qi wireless charging and sit on the right spot on Pixel 5–Pixel 9 Pro XL. Battery Share is not available on Pixel 6a, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Important: Before wirelessly charging your phone, remove any metallic or magnetic attachments from the back of the phone, like Apple MagSafe, PopSockets, or ring holders.

Turn on Battery Share

Your phone shows that it’s sharing its battery and its current battery level.

You can set your phone’s battery level for when Battery Share turns off, from 10% to 50%. When your phone's battery is below that level, you can't Battery Share.

To turn on Battery Share:

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Battery and then Battery Share.

Tip: You can also add Battery Share to your Quick Settings. Learn about Quick Settings.

Battery Share turns off when your phone:

  • Starts wireless charging, like when on a Pixel Stand.
  • Doesn’t notice that it’s charging another device after 30 seconds.
  • Knows the receiving device is fully charged.
  • Reaches a high temperature.
  • Senses power transmission isn’t going well due to poor placement, a thick case, or other issues.
  • Turns on Battery Saver.
  • Starts wired charger.
    • This is only applicable to Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
