Clean your Pixel Tablet, Charging Speaker Dock, and accessories

With regular use, your tablet, dock, and case can get dirty with smudges, fingerprints, and debris. Learn how to safely and effectively clean your tablet and accessories.

Clean your tablet immediately if it comes into contact with dirt, sand, ink, makeup, soap, acids, or lotion. Avoid the use of spray bottles or abrasive cloths like paper towels. Remember to wipe your device gently when you clean it.

Clean your Pixel Tablet

With normal use, your tablet can get dirty or acquire marks when it rubs against fabric or objects in a backpack. These marks resemble scratches, but in many cases they can be removed. When you wipe your Pixel Tablet clean, you can help protect it from wear that can happen over time.

1. Prepare to clean your tablet

  1. Detach your tablet from the dock.
  2. Unplug any cables and power down the tablet.

2. Clean your Pixel Tablet

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth, such as a lens cloth that's slightly dampened with water.
  • Avoid getting moisture in ports or openings.
  • If you need a deeper clean, apply warm, soapy water to a soft, lint-free cloth.

What to avoid:

  • Don't clean your tablet with compressed air, harsh cleaners, or abrasive materials, which can damage your tablet's coating.
  • Avoid getting moisture or soap in openings, like the USB-C port. Allow the tablet to dry completely before you dock it or plug it into a power outlet.
  • To help prevent color transfer while you clean, avoid prolonged contact with other materials.

3. Clean the screen and camera lenses

Your Pixel Tablet's screen and camera lenses have an oleophobic coating. To remove oil left by your hands, clean the screen and lenses with a soft, lint-free cloth. To disinfect your tablet's screen, you can use ordinary household disinfecting wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol-based wipes. Don't use wipes that have bleach.

Important: With normal usage, oil can accumulate on your screen and camera lenses. To avoid scratches, don't use an abrasive material when you clean them.

4. Clean the USB-port

Check for debris inside the USB-C port. Do not put anything into it.

To remove debris from the USB port, gently tap it against your hand, port down, to remove.

Clean your Charging Speaker Dock

Your dock is intended for indoor use only. Don't place it near water or where it might be exposed to dripping or splashing from any liquids. If liquid splashes on your dock's pogo pins, let them dry completely before using the dock.

1. Clean your dock

  1. Wipe the dock's surface clean with a soft cloth that's slightly dampened with fresh water.
  2. Clean the speaker mesh and front face with a lint-free cloth.
  3. Dry the surface with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

2. Clean the pogo pins

Your dock has four pogo pins on its face. To clean them:

  1. Remove any debris from the pogo pin area with a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush. Don't use sharp objects or abrasive materials to clean the pins.
  2. Wipe the pins clean with a cloth that's slightly dampened with fresh water. Don't get liquid in the spaces around the pins.
  3. Dry the pins with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
  4. Wait until the pins are dry before you dock your tablet.

Clean your Pixel Tablet Case

Note: The Pixel Tablet Case is sold separately.

  1. Remove your tablet from the case.
  2. Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth to wipe the outside and inside of the case.
  3. Wait for the case to dry before putting your tablet back in it.

Important: Don't clean your case with window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or any cleaners that contain hydrogen peroxide.
